I have spent the past 15 years working in British and American schools around the world, teaching middle and high school students. My most recent positions include Hong Kong International School in Hong Kong, the British International School in Ho Chi Minh, and The City Academy in London. Throughout my career, I have taught IGCSE, IB, AP, and A Levels.
My teaching philosophy focuses on a communicative approach that puts students at the center of learning from day one. I love using task-based activities that encourage active participation, helping students engage meaningfully with the language. I strive to create a safe, welcoming space where they can practice the target language, boosting their confidence and making learning enjoyable. Building strong relationships through fun games and a relaxed atmosphere is essential to me. I also incorporate total participation techniques to formatively assess nearly every activity, ensuring that everyone feels included and allowing me to adapt my lessons to meet the diverse needs of my students.
At Dynamic Language Class, our motto, "Don't forget to play," encapsulates my approach to language acquisition. I believe in maintaining an active and playful mindset in both teaching and learning.
By integrating communicative language teaching with dynamic, movement-based activities, I create real-life scenarios that foster natural language acquisition.
Our logo reflects this philosophy, featuring ever-evolving shapes that symbolize growth and transformation in the learning process. Each shape transitions into the next, representing the continuous journey of language acquisition. The playful toys in the logo mimic the geometric figures we used as children, teaching us concepts like spatial reasoning and problem-solving skills. Today, they serve us as a reminder of the joy of learning through play.
I firmly believe that play benefits both students and teachers, creating an environment filled with enthusiasm and curiosity. This approach encourages continuous growth and inspires everyone to become lifelong learners.
